What is cricket?
Cricket is a non-contact team sport that uses a bat and ball. Cricket was played in England 500 years ago, and the first national team match (England-Australia) took place in 1861. In 1909, the International Cricket Council was founded, which currently includes national federations of 106 countries.
The game exists in several flavors and most of them have completely different rules. The main type – two teams: each of them is 11 people; turn taking to hit the ball using bats, aiming at gaining points, and preventing opponents in doing so at the same time. The game is somewhat like baseball, though there is no time constraint (in the ODI format play goes on throughout the day).
The game is played on an oval pitch. In the center there is a circle with a diameter of 20 meters (‘pitch’), where all the main action takes place. The two teams take turns batting or pitching the ball.
On the defense side of the pitch there is at the same time:
- one pitcher ‘bowler’;
- ten fielders.
The attacking team has only two batsmen on the field, one on each side of the pitch. The attacking player tries to score as many runs – ‘runs’ – as possible in his allotted ‘overs’ (there are six bowler’s pitches in one over), or until he is bowled by the defence for an out. The batsman tries to deflect the throw so that the ball reaches the boundary of the pitch or flies far enough away from the opponents to allow the batsman to run to the other end of the pitch.
The final of the Cricket World Cup is played every four years. The undisputed leader here is the Australian team, which has been crowned the strongest five times. Among the national championships are considered the leading championships of India, Australia, Pakistan, South Africa, New Zealand, Great Britain.
Types of cricket betting
Bookmakers offer the following main types of cricket bets:
- Winner of the toss. It is offered to determine which team will bat first and which team will bat first. Of course, this bet is designed only on the luck of the bettor;
- Winner of the match (1X2);
- The best player of the match (several options are offered);
- Best bundle of players (a group of 2-3 people who brought their team the most points);
- Best bowler (pitcher) and batsman (batter) in the match;
- Total points (runs);
- Total wickets;
- Individual point totals;
- Betting with forfeits;
- Exact score on wounds;
- Long term bets.
And this is not the whole list. The bookmaker also offers combination bets, bets on team statistics, alternative outcomes (player performance). On the largest cricket tournaments legal domestic bookmakers offer good limits (up to several hundred thousand roubles) and relatively low margins (3-5%).
Cricket betting strategies
In cricket, it is difficult to offer any proven betting strategies. According to professionals, in this sport, the most common matches are arranged. So, recently four players of the South African national team received long periods of disqualification (actually ending their careers) for participation in such meetings. If there is a strong overload in the line, you can safely go with the flow, placing bets on strongly falling odds. You will not win a lot here, but you will be in the plus on the distance with a high probability. The basic conditions of cricket betting strategy can look like this:
- Find an odds scanner or prognosticator;
- Select cricket matches;
